Since her debut on Britain’s Got Talent, 47-year-old Susan Boyle has not only taken Britain by storm, but also the rest of the world.  She has become a music phenomenon in the United States and her “I Dreamed a Dream” audition has been watched over 100,000 times on YouTube.  That statistic broke the YouTube record for amount of times a video has been watched.

Much focus has been put on Boyle’s physical appearance.  Before Boyle’s audition on the show, she was judged mercilessly based on her looks and quickly became Britain’s Got Talent’s very own Ugly Duckling.

In an article called ‘Susan Boyle Gobsmacks Simon Cowell on Britain’s Got Talent’ they talk about how looks shouldn’t be as important as we make them:

“Appearances are almost always the yea or nay in the somewhat vacuous entertainment industry, and Susan Boyle’s initial impression on the judges and audience of Britian’s Got Talent was no exception.  But she surprised everyone with her voice.”

Even with all the media attention that Boyle has received, she’s still managed to stay humble.  Oprah Winfrey interviewed Boyle and talked about how well she expects to do in the final, among other things.  Boyle responds by saying she isn’t sure:

“Well I’ve the chance, but at the same time, there’s a lot of other talent in the competition.  I’m willing to take my place with them.  There’s a lot of good talent on the show.”

The two top contenders include Boyle and another much younger but equally as talented singer named Shaheen Jafargholi.  Both of these contestants wowed their audience with their voice and received yes’s across the board from the judges.  Each contestant has their own style from Boyle who chose a slow number from Les Miserables while Jafargholi indirectly chose the song “Who’s Loving You?” by Michael Jackson.  Though there are a few other gifted people on Britain’s Got Talent, these two, who live 442 miles apart, prove that Britain really does have talent from the north to the south.

However, during the same interview with Oprah, which was conducted via satellite since Boyle was banned from singing in America while on Britain’s Got Talent, judge Simon Cowell shared his feelings about Boyle’s chances of winning the show:

“So you believe she has a chance to win the whole thing now?”  Winfrey asked.

“I do.” Simon said and then gave Boyle some words of wisdom for the final:

“I want to say to you, it’s all about you and you’re singing now..you’ve got practically the whole world behind you.”

Boyle has quickly become a household name, especially in the U.S., and has attracted fans from Demi Moore to U.S. President Barack Obama.  The show has even gained a higher following than that of American Idol whose ratings went down 10% from last years opening show.  I’m not sure if that had anything to do with Boyle but judge Piers Morgan “said that he believes that Boylemania will cause America to ‘grind to a halt’”.

Boyle has recently been compared to the two American Idol finalists Kris Allen and Adam Lambert.  Claims have been made that America is more concerned about the Britain’s Got Talent finale than they are the American Idol one.

After spending time in America, Morgan talks about the effect of Britain’s Got Talent and Boyle:

“I don’t think any show in the history of television has had more global impact than this series of BGT.  And it’s all down to one middle-aged woman from Scotland.”

After all the attention Boyle has received, she was bound to be made reference to in some sort of television show or another so the mention of her name in the long-running cartoon The Simpson’s was inevitable.

In the episode titled Springfields Got Talent, Homer Simpson enters the competition.  When he was asked to introduce himself he told judge Simon Cowell that he had never been kissed (a Boyle reference) and that his “dream is to be a great singer like Susan Boyle.”

With the following that Boyle has managed to acquire since her debut, it really won’t matter if she wins the competition or not.  She is popular enough now so she really doesn’t need a Britain’s Got Talent win to get her a record deal.

Susan Boyle is a very gifted woman.  She deserves to be signed to a label and make music for a living.  She hasn’t gotten swallowed up by the media yet and if she stays that way it might be a lesson to the rest of the entertainment world.  You don’t need to be arrogant and greedy and beautiful in order to make it in the industry.  Hopefully Boyle’s quiet personality and way of life will follow her as she continues her ascent to fame.

The season finale is approaching quickly with the live show on Saturday May 30th.  Will the ‘Ugly Duckling’ who taught us all that appearance isn’t everything take home the gold?  Tune in and find out.

A recent interview quotes Boyle talking with Oprah about her possibly feeling lonely since she was shoved into the lime light so quickly.  Boyle’s response was simple:

“Oh no, I am not lonely.  Everyone has been so nice.  I’ve got millions of friends now”

Boyle, of all people, should understand the hypocrisy of these so called ‘millions of friends’.  Everyone wants to be friends with someone who is famous.  And who better to start with than a 47-year-old woman who has been pretty lonely throughout her whole life?

Another thing that proves that Boyle is letting the game get to her head is that she’s had many make-overs.  From hair to make-up to wardrobe, she’s done it all.

Even after many promptings from the judges to stay as she is so that the world would love Boyle for who she was: a talented musician.  Now the question has to be asked again: Will Susan Boyle be successful because she’s talented or because she went ‘Hollywood’ and has a better physical appearance now?

The answer: the world may never know.  If Boyle hadn’t changed her image and had still been successful, we would have had our answer.  Boyle claims that she ‘just tidied up a bit like any woman would.’  A head to toe make-over really isn’t just tidying up.  And with all the work she’s had done, we won’t be able to find out the reasoning behind her success.  Obviously she’s a great singer but would she be as popular if she had stayed the way she was?

Maybe her success does come from her talent.  Maybe it comes from the way that looks.  Or maybe it’s a mix of both.

The only evidence left that Boyle hasn’t completely sold out to the ways of your typical star is her confidence  level.  The majority of famous people have gone far beyond confidence and have moved to full blown arrogance.  They have a sense of entitlement and think that anyone would be lucky to spend time in their presence.

Boyle, on the other hand, doesn’t have that sense of entitlement yet.  She was offered the chance to have dinner with United States President Barack Obama.  Boyle said that she ‘would be too nervous’, and turned down the president’s invitation.  Most stars would have not only said yes but they would have also thought the president wanted to meet with them solely because they were famous.

Though most of Boyle’s actions depict her as someone who has let fame get to their head, her decline to Obama’s dinner invitation shows that the shy part of her is still there somewhere.

Shaheen Jafargholi, a 12-year-old from Swansea, Wales, impressed the audience by singing Amy Winehouse’s “Valerie” until judge Simon Cowell cut him off.  Cowell asked Jafargholi what else he could sing, and then told him to try that instead.

After further conversation the 12-year-old belted out “Who’s Loving You?” by Michael Jackson.  His performance brough the entire audience to its feet in absolute amazement.  All the while, bring another top contender into the mix and possibly giving Susan Boyle a run for her money.

After Jafargholi’s incredible performance judge Simon Cowell said to him: “This is how one song can change your life.  This may be the start of something really special for you, young man.”

With her latest competition surfacing and all the media attention she’s been receiving, people fear that Boyle will lose her focus because she is struggling with her new life and the realities of it.  Boyle’s brother Gerard spoke about his concerns in an article that can be found in the telegraph:

“When I last spoke to her she sounded exhausted. I said ‘How are you?’ and she said, ‘Oh Gerard, I’ve been here there and everywhere…’.  I could tell she was absolutely shattered.”

In the same article, Boyle denies that she is exhausted and losing focus.  On the contrary, she says she feels “bright as a button”.  Her very upbeat attitude make it sound like she’s been doing this sort of thing for years.

With the entertainment world focused on how well Boyle will do in the competition, we can only hope that the pressure doesn’t get to her.

It was clearn after her first performance that she would be accepted for the way she is.  She’s a talented musician and that’s what the judges and the audience were looking for.  But that wasn’t good enough for Susan Boyle.

‘Britains Got Talent’ judges, especially Simon Cowell, are concerned that Boyle is going to become a ‘gimmick’.  Cowell fears that all the talk about Boyle’s not-so-Hollywood characteristics will distract her fromt he competition.  Especially since she is becoming more concerned about her appearance and is getting caught up with makeovers.

In an article written for the buzznewsroom, it turns out Boyle had promised not to get into new clothes and makeovers:  “Susan Boyle insisted she wouldn’t change after she shot to worldwide startdom following her appearance on Britain’s Got Talent.  But as she stepped out yesterday it appeared she had been on a shopping trip.”

In the picture at the top of the article, it is clear that Boyle had found some new clothes and maybe even a barber shop.

Thought Boyle’s new look can’t phsyicall take away from her talent, could it really take away her focus and therefore take away from her performances?  As shown earlier, judge Simon Cowell wrned Boyle not to lose focus.  But what does Boyle have to say about that?  Apparently nothing since no interviews of Susan’s thoughts on the issue can be found.  Although it has been said that Susan is going along with makeovers and sucj because she didn’t like how she looked on TV:

“She didn’t realize how frumpy she was until she saw herself on TV.”

In the coming weeks we will she the transformation (or lack thereof) of Susan Boyle.  And hopefully we will find out if talent can turn into celebrity without having to look perfect.

Boyle isn’t your typical beauty queen wannabe.  She has short, out of control, curly hair, again pale white skin, and she could stand to lose a few pounds.  Before she sand her first song, Simon Cowell and the other two judges were clearly ready for a let down.  Boyle’s physical appearance deceived them as well as the audience.  A video of her pre-performance interview and the actual performance can be seen on YouTube.

After her performance, which wowed the entire world, Britain’s Got Talent judge Piers Morgan talked about her shocking performance:

“Without a doubt, that was the biggest surprise I have had in three years of this show.  When you stood there with that cheeky grin and said ‘I wanna be like Elaine Paige’ everyone was laughing.  No one laughing now.  That was stunning.  An incredible performance.”

After her first performance, Boyle gave herself a makeover.  It wasn’t a makeover that would completelt change her appearance, however.  Her goal is to dress well and lose a littl bit of weight.

Boyle’s makeover goals have been a bit of a concern for Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden.  She fears that if Boyle changes her image too much, she won’t be the same person that Britain fell in love with.  In the article called “Susan Boyle: Britain’s Got Talent Star Gives Herself a Makeover”, Holden talks about her fears:

“The minute we turn her into a glamourpuss is when it’s spoiled.  That can perhaps come later when she has signed the album deal and conquered America.  For now, we’ll keep her exactly as she is because that’s why we’ve fallen in love with her.”

Holden definitely has a point.  it Boyle stats as she is and does well in the competition, she’ll have done it because she’s talented not because she’s glamourous.  That’s a lesson that would be well-taught throughout the world.  Celebrities should be celebrities because they have a gift not because they’re beautiful.

Mouth finally found the woman he thought he would spend his life with in Brooke’s assistant, Millicent.  The two fell in love quickly but trouble was just around the corner in their relationship.

Millie was a virgin and planned to stay that way until marriage.  The only problem was that she wasn’t sure if Mouth was going to be okay with that.  Mouth’s former girlfriend from high school, Gigi, wound up in Tree Hill as Mouth’s intern at the news station.  She seemed to still have an interest in Mouth, as well as every other guy she came across.

Gigi was continuously trying to sabotage Mouth’s relationship with Millie and eventually it worked, even though Mouth wasn’t interested in Gigi.  Millie ended the relationship, lost her virginity to Brooke’s former boyfriend Owen, and moved to New York.

In a recent article called “One Tree Hill Aftergasm: The Worst Relationship on the Show Continues” says that the Mouth and Millie drama is boring and does nothing to better the show.

“At first it was kind of cute that they fell in love, the two dorky outsiders.  But then they got dull, and even Gigi and Owen the hunky bartender couldn’t spice them up.  Their goodbye lasted forever, but at least it was the end of this snoozefest of a relationship.  Apparently, that wasn’t the case.”

However, Mouth McFadden is one of the most loved characters on the show and fans have been waiting for him to have a chance at real love.  Now that he has it, the show would be worse without it.

In the most recent episode, Mouth goes to New York to see Millicent.  He tells her that he loves her and that he wants to spend the rest of his life with her.

Without the Mouth and Millie drama, the show would be way too depressing.  With Peyton possibly dying from complications in child birth, Dan dying as he waits for a new heart and Lucas losing his movie deal, there really is no happiness in the show.

Mouth and Millicent are the only hope of a happy ending occurring on One Tree Hill.

Hillary Burton, known as Peyton Sawyer on the show, made ublic immediately her intent to leave her role.  However, rumors that Chad Michael Murray wouldn’t be returning hadn’t been confirmed until recently.  The rumors have said that Murray isn’t leaving by his own free will, however.  The show is releasing Murray because of financial reasons.  Murray may be being kicked off the show because the network wants to save some money.

“The show definitely won’t be as good without all the Lucas and Peyton drama,” said One Tree Hill fanatic Elise Swalve. “But I do feel like I have a loyalty to the show.  I’ve been watching it for so long that I think I owe it to the cast to see it through.”

However, reports have showen that with the ansence of Burton and Murray, the shows following will reduce by 43%.  If the show looses that much of its following, I’d be surprised if it makes it all the through its 7th season.

Clearly the 43% of the viewers that wouldn’t watch the show without Burton and Murray aren’t true One Tree Hill fans.  A show with six main characters should not collapse at the loss of two of them.

Even after the CW Network went public with the fact that there will be a season seven, fans are still skeptical.

This article is absolutely ridiculous.  Mark Schwahn signed a contract that would give One Tree Hill another 22 episodes starting next fall.  He wouldn’t make up a false contract and go public with it just for fun.  So, One Tree Hill fans, get ready for a seventh season of OTH.

Banks pretended to be Peyton’s long lost brother in order to get closer to her.  The truth behind the matter was that Ian had a girlfriend, who was killed in a car wreck on prom night.  Ian was driving the car.  Ian’s former girlfriend, Maggie Waterson, looks almost identical to Peyton.

Once Ian found Peyton, he became obsessed with her and was dead set on being with her forever.  There was a lot of stalking, and an attack that ended with Lucas and Peyton’s real brother, Derek, throwing Ian out the window, where he esacped.  He later attacked Peyton on her prom night.  That attack ended with Brooke and Peyton pushing Ian down a staircase and Peyton punching him and kicking him in the gut.

The last we ever see of ‘Psycho Derek’ was in a jail cell where Peyton forgives him for attacking him and telling him that Maggie forgave him too.

Now that Barr has gone away from the roll of a stalker, he’s returning to the CW network with a whole new look.

Barr will be playing an incredibly rich and powerful man from Malibu, California.  Be sure to look out for him in Gossip Girl next season.

Though the show will be taken to another season but possibly without Chad Michael Murray, who plays Lucas Scott, and Hilarie Burton, who plays Peyton Sawyer.

After watching the latest One Tree Hill Spoiler, my suspicions about Burton have been confirmed.  She doesn’t want to re-up her contract, so producers have to find a way to get rid of her. 

“I want to clear up one thing that’s very important to me. I want everyone to know how much I love Peyton Sawyer, and my crew…. I don’t want anyone to think I’m abandoning a place that’s been very good to me.  I’ve had a really good run, and I wish I had creative control over the show, and I don’t. But if I did, it would go on for a million years, and Peyton Sawyer would cry for you all the time – because she does that,” said Burton, in a video explaining why she wants to leave the show.

Speculations have been made that Murray will be leaving the show, however, he hasn’t spoken out as to why he is making this decision.

But as I pointed out before, the OTH writers have a great way of surprising people.

The most recent spoiler revealed that Peyton is having complications with her pregnancy and could possibly die if she were to go through with it, and have the baby.

The spoiler also shows that Peyton wants to have the baby because she knows how much it means to her, while Lucas is more concerned about losing her forever then having the baby.

So what I want to know is, can One Tree Hill really survive without one of it’s number one characters?  Peyton was always the character that had the most happen to her.  Her real mother, and adoptive mother died.  She got stalked and almost raped by her “brother”, Derek.  And she got shot in the leg at the school shooting, and almost died.

Clearly Peyton is a huge part of the show, but I’m wondering if maybe she doesn’t want to go another season so the producers had to find a way to get rid of her.
